Movie Summary
One of the classic Disney sports movies, The Rookie is the inspiring true story of pitcher Jim Morris. Morris once dreamed of becoming a Marjor League baseball player, but injuries and back luck kept him from playing beyond college. Twelve years later, Morris is a high-school teacher and baseball coach. When his team, currently in last place, cuts a deal that if they win the division Morris has to try out for a Major League team, Morris take them up on the offer.
However, when the team suprisingly goes on to win the division, Morris finds himself trying out for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Further, when Morris is clocked at 98mph, Rays scouts have no choice but to offer the 35 year-old teacher a minor league contract. The story continues and follows Morris through his struggles, yet ultimate success to The Show.
